HOW TO: use Linkam's Modular Force Stage (MFS) as part of a multi-tiered microscopy system

The McCrone Group's Hooke College of Applied Sciences recently hosted a webinar looking at multi-tiered microscopy analysis for wound care products, such as bandages.

In the webinar, McCrone's Glenn Miller and Jeff McGinn use benchtop SEM technology, high-powered stereo microscopy, and our MFS to characterise the mechanical properties of waterproof and heavy-duty bandages.

The webinar highlights the benefits of using this multi-tiered approach during such investigations to obtain a more comprehensive analysis of the materials being investigated. In the webinar Glenn shows how to obtain Force-Distance data for tensile cycling/hysteresis experiments, as well as for tensile strain until failure, and how to correlate this data with real-time images and videos of the sample evolution.

The MFS can be used across a variety of systems and techniques, with or without temperature control. This may be with the addition of electrical connections for electrical measurement on the sample during tensile testing, or the addition of the RH95 humidity controller to your system to accurately control the relative humidity around your samples.
