We have designed application specific hot stages for users in fields as diverse as ice cream development to space research. Linkam has stages for applications in the fields of pharmaceutical, Chemical, Biological, Materials Science, geology, forensic, liquid crystal and many others. The hot stages, electronics and software are all designed and built on site thereby enabling us to quickly respond to suggestions made by current Linkam users, and so enabling us to continually develop and improve our designs.

Accurate Temperature Sensor

Temperatures are measured to within 0.01°C and displayed to 0.01°C on the TMS94

Simple Cooling System

The unique cooling system offers automatic or manual control from an unpressurized dewar with extremely efficient liquid nitrogen use (2Litre will last approximately 1 day of use).

Large Range of Heating/Cooling rates

Accurately controlled heating rates up to 130°C/min and as slow as 0.01°C offer speed and flexibility allowing a fast through put of experiments.

Cooling rates of 130°C/min are possible. Uncontrolled using copper coil results in approximately 700°C/min.

Fast Response

Temperature response time is less than 0.1 seconds up to 30°C/min. At rates greater than 30°C/min response time is less than 2 seconds.

When we design new features or improvements we try to make them available to existing users as an upgrade option.

Examina Vacuum System

The Examina range of stages are gas tight, enabling the user to purge the sample chamber with inert gas. However, the new THMS350V enables the user to either pull a continuous vacuum or vacuum and then bleed in a specific gas.

Based on the technology of the FDCS196 freeze drying stage, Linkam has developed a vacuum stage with a range from -196 to 350C at pressures of 10-3mbar. A pirani guage relays sample chamber pressure displayed in either the Linksys 32 software or on the front panel of the TMS94.

Examina Vacuum Microscope stage

Examina Pressure Stage

Although resembling a standard Examina stage, the Examina Pressure Stage has a reinforced stage body that utilises a stainless steel base plate, and inserts for both the lid and base. The sample chamber can be pressurized via special pressure connectors up to 14bar.

Analysa Probe Systems

Due to increase in demand for customised probe systems with temperature control, Linkam has recently developed a number of probe options for the popular Analysa range of heating and freezing stages.

Up to 8 moveable tungsten, gold plated tip probes can be mounted in the sample chamber. The probes are wired to a connector which the user can then connect to their measuring instrumentation to enable electrical measurements of samples during heating and cooling profiles from -196 to 350C.

Imaging Station

To facilitate the easy loading of samples in all Linkam stages but especially the TST350 Tensile stage and CSS450 Optical shearing stage, linkam has developed an imaging platform that enables the user to easily access the sample chamber by tilting the lens and camera out of the way. Standard high resolution long working distance objectives can still be used and a standard microscope 100W light source is utilized for routine brightfield microscopy. A 10X phase ring is built into the long working distance condenser and both polarizer and analyzer are included.

CSS450 New Wide Body Design

The highly successful optical shearing system (CSS450) has been redesigned to fit the excellent new Zeiss Axioimager automated microscope.

The base of the CSS450 had to be redesigend to fit the wider microscope substage assembly. A huge task for Linkam but well worth it. The combination of these two instruments provide a powerful research solution.

A range of clamps and condenser extension lens have been designed for all other linkam stages to fit the Axioimager range.
