Unravelling the complexities of freeze-drying pharmaceuticals with advanced microscopy techniques

Linkam’s FDCS196 is used by researchers at NIBSC and the University of Strathclyde to predict freeze-drying conditions for liposome-cryoprotectant mixtures (drug delivery systems), using light microscopy with a cryostage.

Using the FDCS freeze-drying cryo stage and light microscopy techniques such as phase contrast and polarized light, it is now possible to quickly and accurately determine collapse and eutectic temperature and intricately investigate the freeze-dried structure of complex samples.
